主要研究领域：
（1）致力于古海洋环境对优质烃源岩形成过程的控制作用研究，运用前人在古海洋环境重建方面的技术和理论优势定量预测油气，特别是深层油气时空分布。研究手段侧重于铁-硫-碳-磷化学、微量元素和有机地球化学等方法。
（2）关注超大陆演化历史的研究，特别是华南板块与Gondwana古大陆的相互关系研究，即华南板块在Gondwana古大陆中的具体位置以及华南板块与Gondwana古大陆完成聚合的时间。研究手段侧重于同位素年代学、微全岩地球化学、单矿物地球化学以及沉积相分析等手段。
